SNAKES
The Texas Department of State Health Services says that most snakes in Texas are not venomous. The two most common venomous snakes are the Pit Vipers and Coral snakes. If you or someone you know is bitten by a venomous snake you will know right away because the pain will be in sufferable.

Seasonal Pests

RACCOONS
Well it’s that time of year again. As it gets cooler the raccoons and possums will be looking for a comfortable, warm, safe environment. Guess what? Your attic or crawlspace is the perfect home!!

FIRE ANT CONTROL
Ants are amazing insects. Their sole purpose is to support the colony as a whole. There is no “I” in ant.

COCKROACHES
While there are approximately 3500 species of cockroaches, only 55 species are known to live in the U.S. In Texas, five cockroach species are really troublesome in homes and buildings. They are the German, American, Brown-banded, Oriental, and Smoky Brown.

SCORPIONS
These arachnids are a huge problem in Texas and certainly create fear in most homeowners.

SPIDERS
There are nearly 1,000 species of spiders found in Texas, but only a few are harmful to humans. Most are beneficial, feeding on pests of agricultural crops ants and mosquitoes that they ensnare in their silken traps.

DRAIN FLIES
Small flies in the home can become quite a nuisance. One type of fly that may infest the home is the drain fly. Drain flies are small, have two wings and are a brownish or grayish color. Drain flies have a fuzzy appearance and when at rest, hold their wings roof like over their body making them look like tiny moths which is why they are also sometimes called moth flies.

EARWIGS
Where did the earwig get her name? Probably from the old wives tale that earwigs burrowed into the brains of humans through the ear and laid eggs. Yes it does sound like an episode from the Twilight Zone.

SILVERFISH
Silverfish are always wingless and are silvery to brown in color because their bodies are covered with fine scales. They are generally soft bodied. Adults are up to 3/4 inch long, flattened from top to bottom, elongated and oval in shape, have 3 long tail projections and 2 long antennae.
